Supporting Communities, Building a Legacy

The W.R. and Floy A. Sauey Family Foundation

The W.R. and Floy A. Sauey Family Foundation, as a private corporate foundation, is committed to the local communities in which the Nordic Group Member Companies have operations.

The original endowment was given by W.R. and Floy A. Sauey, and annual charitable contributions are provided by Nordic Group Member Companies. The Foundation will encourage the descendants of W.R. & Floy A. Sauey and the Nordic Group Member Companies to make constructive contributions to local communities and, in this way, to the world at large.

Philanthropic Giving

The founder of the W.R. and Floy A. Sauey Family Foundation shared his philosophy for philanthropic giving in the following words: “As a child I struggled to achieve an education and to find an important place in the world around me. In the process, I became aware of the benefits that are available to anyone…”

Baraboo Police Department K9 Unit and Therapy K9 Program

K9 Storm is an 18 month old German Shepherd, he was born and raised in Hungary until he was about 1 year old, then he was flown to the US. Once in the US he spent approximately 6 months training in North Carolina at Southern Police Canine Inc. This is where Baraboo Police Department received K9 Storm from. Then Office Matt O-Brien spent six weeks training with K9 Storm. He is currently now certified in tracking, article searches and drug detection. In the future Officer O’Brien is hopeful K9 Storm can be certified for apprehension as well. K9 Storm and Officer O’Brien are pictured here.

The K9 Therapy Program is a valuable resource to any organization and could greatly assist the Baraboo School District and the Baraboo Police Department with day-to-day operations. Both students and citizens can experience positive mental and physical health benefits by interaction with a therapy dog. Petting and interaction with the dog is a non-threating, non-judgmental way of helping break down mental and emotional barriers. Once the Labradoodle pup becomes older and is trained as a Therapy K9, it will be able to join the Baraboo Police Department. The program also has a long term goal to provide the K9 with proper and safe transport in the future if funding allows. This would include a designated patrol squad that has a kennel and climate monitoring systems to insure safe transportation.

The K9 Program at the Baraboo Police Department is an important part of the Baraboo community and your support of these programs help to expand on the training they can receive, help with the care and protection of these animals and their handlers, as well as bring the community together.
